Coach Ty, originally from the Bahamas, developed a passion for basketball at the age of three, inspired by his parents. He cherished every aspect of the gym environment, from the fresh paint to the sound of his sneakers on the floor.

 

He attended Tabernacle Baptist Christian Academy, where he excelled in high school tournaments, earning the MVP award at the Hugh Campbell National High School Tournament in 1997-98. Although highly recruited for college scholarships, he was unable to pursue this path due to family commitments.

 

At 18, Coach Ty joined the Bahamas Junior National Team, competing in CARICOM Basketball Tournaments across the Caribbean. By 19, he was playing internationally with the Bahamas National Team.

 

After relocating to the United States, Coach Ty began coaching at the Ron Rosner YMCA in 2015, sharing his knowledge with young athletes. He also participated in local men's leagues and continues to play basketball.

 

Noticing a lack of fundamental skills in youth basketball, Coach Ty transitioned from coaching to training. He founded Lion Heart Basketball Academy in November 2023, successfully training 28 middle and high school players, with a 93% success rate in team placements.

 

In November 2024, Coach Ty launched Lion Heart Sports Club, focusing on enhancing players' skills, confidence, and basketball IQ. His efforts have led to college recruitment of LHSC players on basketball scholarships. With a strong community presence in Stafford, Coach Ty remains dedicated to mentoring athletes and helping them reach their full potential.
